Construcdead, Hate Sphere, Soilwork
Markthalle/Hamburg – Oct. 13th, 2005
(report/translation by Wiebke)
It is a fact that in Hamburg the doors of the venue are opened later than scheduled. So the few people in front of the door had to wait on this early Thursday evening. Half an hour later we had been informed that the headliner Soilwork would not been able to perform because the drummer had injured his hand. Again thirty minutes later we got the choice: getting the whole money back and don´t watch the concert or to watch the concert and pay less fort the ticket. And there would be a “Meet`n`greet” with the musicians of Soilwork after the concert as a goodie.
So the show started at 9 p.m. (normally 8 p.m.) but that was not a bad thing because I had some time for a talk with the Hate Sphere guys who were selling their merchandise by themselves and became surprisingly headliner for tonight.
At
nine o´clock the lights turned off and Construcdead
from Sweden entered the stage. They started with a blast and vocalist Jens used
all space on stage. He ran from the left to the right side. He was also very
sociable with the audience in the first row.
The
people started to dance and to bang their heads with the beginning of “The
lustfull”. So guitar player Christian had to shake many hands after every song
from that point.
But
you had to be a very quiet person indeed if you were not moving your body at all
while listening to this mixture of Thrash Metal and Death Metal. The only time
to take a breath was between the songs when the next one was introduced with a
few words. At “God after me” some stage divers entered stage. But it was a
very short ride because there were only seven rows…
Although
the band had the state of a newcomer these guys acted very tight and
professional and they earned a lot of applause for their performance. So this
was not the last time you hears something from them.
The
people became restless as the Hate Sphere
guys came on stage to check their instruments. Some people started to yell
“Hate Sphere, Hate Sphere!” and singer Jacob said hallo to them with many
handshakes. The other boys talked and made jokes with them, too.
Finally
the lights turned off and Hate Sphere started with “Low life vendetta”.
Jacob passed every song through and got in touch with the audience in the first
and second row. Because there is no photo pit in the Markthalle you had to very
attentive if Jacob ran to the border of the stage if didn´t want to get a body
check.
“Deathtrip”
was a song that rumbled in a great way and after that guitar player Peter became
the microphone. He was a little surprised and his only comment was “Heinz has
a little dick”. Well, guitar player Henrik, whose nickname is Heinz, was not
very amused. But he took that joke with a humorous attitude because he rather
didn´t have another choice…
With
“Reaper of life”, “Murderous intend” and “Sickness within” Hatesphere
introduced three songs of the actual CD “The sickness within”. But after the
middle of the set the people were yelling for the song “Disbeliever” which
was finally at the end of the concert. The song is a very intensive one and
almost everybody shook some body parts in its rhythm.
The guys also demonstrated the whole time that they have extremely much fun on
stage. The posed as hell and took a lot of strange and ugly faces that you could
almost get feared.
It is a pity that everything must come to an end. The people shouted for more
music but the band was not able to play another song because they had done every
song that they rehearsed with Morten. Morten played the drums for the original
drummer Anders Gyllenøhr who became father not a long time ago.
But
again they demonstrated that they are some of the most sympathetic bands in the
whole Metal music community because they stayed on stage for long time and
talked to the people or made jokes.
In the following time two desks and benches were placed on stage and where the members of Soilwork sat down. They gave beer bottles to the fans and signed tickets, CDs and whatever the people gave to them. Every member and mostly singer Speed was not tired to apologize himself for not being able to play the concert. And here are some Hatesphere pics as a memory:
